By September 30, teachers from preschools, primary schools, lower-secondary schools and upper-secondary schools may register students to participate in the Filmoteka Szkolna New Horizons of Film Education project.

The project, held in the 2015/2016 school year at Forum Cinema, primarily offers students engaging screenings, new films and thematic series. Registration for the project for the 2015/2016 school year continues until the end of September; however, to secure a place in the selected series, it is worth submitting the form as soon as possible. It is available on the New Horizons of Film Education website. Detailed information about the project can be found in the leaflets and on the New Horizons of Film Education project website.

The New Horizons Association and Forum Cinema once again welcome the new school year with offerings for young viewers and their guardians. The Filmoteka Szkolna. New Horizons of Film Education project is aimed at students and teachers who, as part of school classes, want to watch valuable films and discuss them. The programme has enjoyed public recognition throughout Poland for years – among Students and Teachers – because it combines outstanding educational value with an attractive format.

The Forum Cinema offer is intended for all age groups: preschools, grades I–III; IV–VI; lower-secondary schools and upper-secondary schools, in thematic series. Each series consists of seven meetings during the year, from October 2015 to April 2016. Each group comes to the cinema once a month. The meetings include a presentation delivered by an invited guest or multimedia presentations, a film screening and a discussion for students who wish to participate. In cooperation with film critics, film scholars and teachers, educational materials for teachers have been prepared for the films. Each consists of a film-studies section and a lesson plan.

An attractive offer for schools participating in the project

We have an attractive offer for schools that will participate in NHEF Film Education at Forum Cinema. Under an agreement between BOK-MCC and the newspaper and portal Istotne.pl, we will promote on this website the schools that take part in the film education project. On the Istotne.pl website, we will publish information about which school participated in the project, together with brief general information about that school, and we will promote the school through teachers’ activities in support of film education at BOK-MCC.
The plan is to create a guide written by teachers and publish their methods for conducting film education classes in schools. The project is coordinated on behalf of Istotne.pl by Grażyna Hanaf, who can be contacted by email at gh@istotne.pl or by telephone at 792-177-320.

On behalf of BOK-MCC, Ewa Chrobot is responsible for implementing the project. Email: impresariat@bok.boleslawiec.pl or telephone: 668 546 116

New Horizons of Film Education is an original programme created and implemented for several years by the New Horizons Association. The project enables children and young people to encounter cinema, from classics to contemporary works. Participants deepen their knowledge of film art, develop their sensitivity and prepare to engage with culture independently and consciously. Through New Horizons of Film Education, we want to acquaint young viewers with film art and inspire them to love it, while also supplementing their school education.

The entire NHEF programme complies with the core curriculum and is recommended by the Ministry of National Education and the education authorities.
