We decided to find out whether Bolesławiec parishes would be willing to accept refugees.
Rev. Dr Stanisław Kusik, parish priest of the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, told us that it depends on the bishop’s decision. Rev. Andrzej Gidziński of the Parish of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ and Rev. Jerzy Adamczewski of the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary expressed similar views.
“At any time,” in turn emphasized Rev. Józef Hupa, parish priest of the Parish of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. “People cannot be driven away,” he added. At the same time, however, he stressed that state institutions should check who the refugees are and whether this might actually be economic migration.
Rev. Dr Andrzej Jarosiewicz of the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Nicholas pointed out that some parishes would have a problem finding accommodation for a refugee. “There would have to be centers attached to parishes, retreat centers,” he noted.
Prelate Wojciech Mroszczak, parish priest of the Parish of Saints Cyril and Methodius: “There is no such need yet, but we help all those in need, so we will help refugees as well.”
We were unable to contact Rev. Józef Gołębiowski.
And what is your opinion on this matter? Should the Church accept refugees from Syria? We invite you to discuss the issue below the article and to take part in the poll.
