To ensure that its students remain competitive in the labour market and to give them the opportunity to gain experience working with current technological innovations, the Ignacy Domeyko Electronic School Complex in Bolesławiec once again organised high-quality work placements abroad, this time in Spain. Twenty students studying to become digital graphic process technicians took part.

From 10 to 31 May this year, they carried out the “New Technologies, New Opportunities in 3D Design and Printing” project as part of the Erasmus+ Programme.

It is impossible to list all the benefits resulting from the students’ stay at the partner school Safa Nuestra Señora de los Reyes in Seville, so we will focus on the most important ones.

Training in 2D and 3D design, the opportunity to print completed projects and the necessary documentation, learning about new 3D printing technology, and participating in instructional demonstrations directly contributed to preparing the participants for the A.55 qualification examination, which the students were due to take at the beginning of 2016.

Moreover, they learned techniques and concepts enabling them to design models of any degree of complexity using Solid Edge, and created films presenting the operation of devices and assembly processes combined with advanced rendering.

They also acquired specific skills in printing and preparing materials for printing, which they demonstrated by producing a 3D print of their project.

However, participation in the work placements was not limited to contact exclusively with the world of machines and technology. The students developed their language skills by taking part in a Spanish-language course and practising specialised English, which will undoubtedly make it easier for them to pursue professional mobility in the EU labour market. They also became more open to other cultures and customs by taking part in numerous cultural excursions.

The students regularly posted their impressions of orange-scented Andalusia on Facebook.
