Below is the statement sent to our editorial office:
The workplace and inter-workplace organizations of NSZZ “Solidarity” from the city and Bolesławiec County express their deep indignation over the commemorative medals awarded on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the founding of NSZZ Solidarity.
We emphasize that Mr. Pokładek’s decision was solely the decision of a local organization and was not consulted with other workplace and inter-workplace organizations representing members of NSZZ “Solidarity” from the city and Bolesławiec County, which are the basic organizational units of the NSZZ “Solidarity” trade union.
We were outraged by the fact that people (employers) who violated workers’ rights and were consequently sued by employees were honored. A collective dispute and a labor court case were a legally permitted “last resort” for the employees. Where did Mr. Pokładek see cooperation on the part of these employers?
Representing the “Solidarity” trade union organizations by Mr. Józef Pokładek is once again, in our view, contrary to the Statutes of NSZZ “Solidarity”, and his “trade union activity” undermines the fundamental objective of the union, namely defending the dignity, rights and interests of the union’s working members.
We do not consent to such actions.
