During an operation codenamed Truck and Bus conducted on the roads of Zgorzelec County, officers checked 96 vehicles, primarily trucks and buses.
Police officers checked, among other things, documentation authorizing the transport of people and goods, the way they were transported, the drivers’ sobriety, compliance with working-time regulations, and the technical condition of the vehicles.
During the operation, officers noticed the driver of a truck on the A4 motorway traveling toward Wrocław. The driver’s very first words indicated that he might be under the influence of alcohol. A breathalyzer test confirmed the officers’ suspicions. The driver had nearly 2.5 parts per mille of alcohol in his system. The man was convinced that he was… traveling toward Germany, not Wrocław.
Moreover, 14 drivers exceeded the speed limit, and the registration certificates of 16 vehicles were confiscated because of their poor technical condition.
