The crime took place on 24 July this year, in the late afternoon. Two residents of Strzegom came to Bolesławiec. The men were allegedly interested in buying a camera (its owner had posted an advertisement online).
While examining the equipment, the 23-year-old confirmed that he wanted to buy it, but after a moment... he began running away with the camera toward the car. His 22-year-old colleague was sitting behind the wheel. When the seller tried to wrest his property from the thief, he was struck by him.
The victim then, wanting to prevent the criminals from driving away, grabbed hold of the vehicle. The thieves drove off and, after covering several dozen metres, the victim was forced to let go of the car.
A police patrol arrived then and began chasing the fleeing residents of Strzegom. The officers detained the thieves and recovered the camera, worth PLN 1,400, which was returned to its owner.
The men admitted to the police that they had gone to Bolesławiec to steal the equipment in question; they had not intended to buy it at all. The men from Strzegom face up to 10 years in prison.
Additionally, the officers seized the 22-year-old’s driving licence because he had created a hazard in road traffic and failed to stop when ordered to do so.
