At Forum Cinema at 1c Piłsudskiego Square, tickets can already be purchased or reserved for the show “War of the Sexes” by Kraków’s Formacja Chatelet. “War of the Sexes” is the satirists’ latest show. This is what Tomasz Wyrwa-Trzebiatowski, amused to tears, wrote about it
“The show escapes all the frameworks into which people try to fit cabaret. Mainly because it is a show that skilfully balances on the fine line between cabaret and reality. The group draws its ideas from something that is an endless source of inspiration—from life! That is why this show will make everyone laugh, because everyone has had some male–female experiences. And do not be surprised if, suddenly, while watching “War of the Sexes,” you see yourselves on stage. The show was created and is brilliantly performed by the Kraków trio: Basia Tomkowiak, Michał Pałubski and Adam Małczyk.
The song lyrics were written by the outstanding poet Michał Chludziński, the music was composed by Aleksander Brzeziński, and the choreography was created by the indispensable Jean Pierre Papin. One of the show’s strengths is its satirical videos depicting the absurdity of everyday situations. The production is polished down to the smallest detail, as shown, among other things, by the costumes specially made for the group by Claudius Scisor. The programme is coherent and focused, and, most importantly, very funny. If you want to laugh at yourselves—but above all, laugh with a point—you absolutely should see “War of the Sexes.” I have seen it and wholeheartedly recommend it to you!”
Marcin Daniec in October
One of the most popular satirists in the history of Polish cabaret, Marcin Daniec has been triumphing on stages in Poland and abroad for years. Marcin Daniec’s phenomenon is connected with his excellent rapport with the audience, whose reactions become part of the programme.
Marcin Daniec is a well-known television personality, author and principal performer of the programmes “Meeting Kabaretowy” and “Marzenia Marcina Dańca”. He also hosted the audience-favourite “Hit Dekady” and “Euro Show” on TVP2.
The audience’s affection for Marcin Daniec is reflected in his numerous awards. His first valuable distinction was the “Karolinka”, received in 1993 for his debut at the Festival of Polish Song in Opole. This was followed by an award from the weekly magazine “Wprost”, which recognised Marcin Daniec as one of twenty “Creators of Reality”. Marcin Daniec also has four Telekamery awards, including the Golden Telekamera, as well as five “Blue Charlie Bowler Hats”, awarded by the audience at the Good Humour Festival in Gdańsk. In 2003, Marcin Daniec was named “Satirist of All Time”.
It is no wonder, then, that Marcin Daniec visits concert halls and cultural centres in Poland and abroad throughout the year. Marcin Daniec is fortunate that people’s affection translates into attendance at his concerts. In addition to numerous ticketed events, Marcin Daniec performs at outdoor city events and corporate functions, and takes part in charitable initiatives. During the programme, Marcin Daniec is accompanied by vocalists Anna Piechurska and Paweł Ekert, winners of “Szansa na sukces”.
