As it turns out, people who had most likely taken unknown substances dangerous to their lives were also admitted to hospitals in other cities across Poland. Police officers warn: producers and sellers of legal highs are driven primarily by profit, showing no regard for human life. By selling legal highs, they are selling death!
Legal highs are preparations containing psychoactive substances that pose a threat to life and health. Their production, sale and advertising are currently prohibited by law in Poland. Sellers of these substances nevertheless try at all costs to circumvent the applicable regulations and offer the prohibited substances illegally as collectors’ items or incense. Most legal highs come in the form of tablets or smoking mixtures.
To combat this practice, the police cooperate with the Państwowa Inspekcja Sanitarna. Every report received by the police about places where legal highs may be sold is carefully investigated. Places where the trade in legal highs may be taking place are inspected by police patrols. Recently, during an inspection of one of the shops in Płock, police officers seized... nearly half a thousand legal-high products. Initial findings indicate the presence of prohibited narcotic substances in these products.
Police officers regularly assist employees of the Państwowa Inspekcja Sanitarna during inspections of legal-high sales outlets and when securing suspicious substances, which are subsequently subjected to detailed testing.
Regardless of the actions taken by the police and sanitary authorities, it is above all important to make young people aware that legal highs are poison and every use of them may involve serious risk. Let us react if someone in our company intends to take these substances, and firmly refuse when someone encourages us to do so. It is not worth risking your life!
