Discovering and making music together – the German group Michaelis Consort and the Polish string quartet Musicarius are bringing the historic Capela Polska back to life. This orchestra performed in Warsaw at the court of Augustus II and Augustus III, kings of Poland and prince-electors of Saxony.

At the beginning of July, Nova Capela Polska is setting out on a concert tour of cities in Germany and Poland. On 10 July, it will also arrive in Zgorzelec. The musicians invite all residents of the Europe City to their baroque world of sound. Admission to the event is free, although donations are welcome.

Concerts in public spaces, performed in parks or on the street, have already become a permanent part of the ensemble’s repertoire. The musicians leave traditional concert halls behind, inviting those who normally avoid “classical” music to share in the musical experience. The concert will also be accompanied by an exhibition on Polish-German history, which can be viewed throughout the event.

The evening event will be preceded by music workshops for children from preschools in Zgorzelec and Görlitz, held at the Meetingpoint Music Messiaen European Educational and Cultural Centre in Zgorzelec.
