Police officers from the Szklarska Poręba Police Station detained a 47-year-old woman and her 59-year-old friend, suspected of appropriating a bank card, using it and stealing money from the victim’s account.
In June this year, the owner invited the couple to his home for a party. When the guests ran out of alcohol, the victim gave the 47-year-old woman and the 59-year-old man his card together with the PIN and asked them to do some shopping. The suspects went shopping several times, but when the owner asked them to return the card, they claimed they did not have it.
Police established that the residents of Szklarska Poręba used the card 47 times. They withdrew cash from the victim’s account. The total amount was nearly PLN 3,700.
When the man realized that almost all the money had disappeared from his bank account, he notified the police. He suspected the couple he knew of the thefts.
Both detainees could now face up to 10 years in prison.
