Sonia Turzyniecka is a charismatic sports champion who is highly consistent in everything she does. And it is a sport that might seem to be the domain of men. We are talking about arm wrestling.
In 1998, S. Turzyniecka suffered a spinal injury. Despite the adversities she faced, she did not give up and began looking for a sports discipline that would fill her life. Over the years, she came across arm wrestling.
Today, Sonia is a medal winner at national and international competitions—not only in categories for people with disabilities, but also in masters categories. She has won the titles of Polish champion and world vice-champion among athletes with disabilities. It is worth adding that in Gdańsk she won gold at the Polish Championships, defeating… a competitor weighing 150 kg and measuring 1.80 m.
At the 25th European Armwrestling Championships in Bulgaria, S. Turzyniecka achieved an outstanding sporting result, winning the gold medal in the left-arm competition and silver in the right-arm competition in the +65 kg category for athletes with disabilities. In addition, the arm wrestler achieved an excellent result in the left- and right-arm competitions in the women’s masters category up to 70 kg, ultimately finishing fourth with both arms.
“Ms Sonia’s success is a source of pride not only for our team, but also for the residents of Bolesławiec County,” said Paweł Podlewski, a representative of the Polish Armwrestling Federation. “However, such a wonderful result by Sonia Turzyniecka would not have been possible without the support and assistance of the Bolesławiec County Office. I believe that many more times we will be proud of her sporting achievements and share moments of emotion and pride.”

I regain my strength by eating at the Eurest restaurant in Bolesławiec, where I refuel. That is where this strength comes from. These lunches give me so much energy that I feel ready to burst. I recommend them to everyone, especially athletes.
I dedicate this victory to the entire Bolesławiec County. I would like to put one of the medals up for auction; the proceeds will be donated to seriously ill people, in order to save a life.
