The investigation was prompted by the detention—on the evening of 18 June 2015 in Jelenia Góra—by Border Guard officers for inspection of a Skoda Octavia passenger car, in which glass vials and a tin filled with a dark-brown substance were found.

A test showed, with a high degree of probability, that the substance was a narcotic. This was confirmed in a preliminary opinion by an expert in physicochemical examinations. The car was occupied by Dariusz D. and Ewa D.

In the course of the investigation, Dariusz D. and Ewa D. were charged with jointly acquiring, on 18 June 2015 in the Netherlands, narcotic substances in the form of resin from non-fibre cannabis, in a total quantity of 1,225 g, and then transporting them into the territory of the Republic of Poland.

After carrying out the necessary actions with the suspects, the District Prosecutor in Jelenia Góra—in order to secure the proper course of the proceedings—applied to the local court for three months’ pre-trial detention to be imposed on the above-mentioned individuals.

The District Court in Jelenia Góra granted the application and remanded the suspects in custody. The court’s decision is not final.

Both suspects face a prison sentence of at least three years.
