The campaign is under way! – Preparations for the trip to the Eastern Borderlands are already nearing completion – says Barbara Smoleńska, coordinator of the initiative on behalf of the Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych im. mjra Henryka Sucharskiego in Bolesławiec. – We have already collected the funds and tools needed for the work.
She adds: – Entrepreneurs from Bolesławiec and the surrounding area supported our trip by donating 1% of their tax to an account maintained by the Związek Sybiraków III RP in Wrocław, the campaign’s co-organizer. In this way, we obtained PLN 3,543.80. We collected donations in churches in Kruszyn, Łaziska and in the Piastów housing estate in Bolesławiec. In this way, we raised PLN 2,126. In addition, the Nasze Łaziska association transferred PLN 200 to the campaign account. We thank the residents of Bolesławiec and the surrounding area for their help in organizing the trip.
Barbara Smoleńska also thanks the School Workshops at the Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych in Bolesławiec, and especially Józef Fukas for making metal crosses that will be erected in Polish cemeteries, including the one in Zbarazh.
– We are leaving on July 8, 2015. After our return, we will share our impressions from our stay in the lands of our ancestors – the campaign coordinator announces.
