We are admittedly keeping our fingers crossed for good weather, because we had to move last weekend’s concerts (Paihivo, Joint Venture Sound System, Plateau) indoors because of the rain, but this time we are optimistic – it will be fine!

Let’s start at the beginning.

Our week began theatrically, because on Monday morning, beneath the green dome, we had a crazy theatre performance for Zgorzelec preschoolers. Our cinema projector also shifted into top gear. On Monday alone, there were three screenings – for students from Tęcza and for SOSW pupils, as well as an evening screening for everyone interested.

This week, the silver screen features the film “The Great Museum” directed by Johannes Holzhausen. It is a proposition for curious viewers interested in outstanding art. The film tells the story of Vienna’s Kunsthistorisches Museum. The director takes his camera into places normally inaccessible to visitors. Modernisation work in one of the galleries – the Kunstkammer – provides the starting point for a story not only about the museum’s priceless collections, but above all about the people whose work and ideas make this exceptional place attractive to tourists from around the world. The lights go down at 6:31 p.m.; tickets cost PLN 11.

And so the reels of our projector keep turning through Wednesday evening. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will also have further morning screenings for young people as part of the New Horizons Film Education project.

On Thursday, we invite you to a concert by the Zgorzelec music school, which looks set to be excellent, as usual. Talents, talents, talents on stage... The audience will be full, we are sure. It begins at 4 p.m.

Also on Thursday, also in the afternoon (at 4:30 p.m.), we will host a pleasant end-of-school-year ceremony for students of the non-public Cogito school.

Another ceremony on the same occasion, this time for students of Primary School No. 2, will take place here on Friday at 11 a.m.

And then it will already be the weekend, with the grand finale of the 2015 City Days.

So we warmly invite you to our green amphitheatre, where:

  • 27 June, from 4 p.m.
    • performances by young people
    • presentation of the Zgorzelec Mayor’s awards
    • Vena Valley
    • Manchester
    • Patrycja Markowska with her band
  • 28 June, from 4 p.m.
    • concert by the State Music School in Zgorzelec
    • Czesuaf cabaret
    • Jurki cabaret
    • Leszcze and Katarzyna Pakosińska.

There will also be plenty happening inside MDK. As usual, we invite everyone to the Zgorzelec Flower Festival and the exhibition prepared for the occasion in the lobby beneath the green dome. This year, the cherry on the floral cake will also be a cactus exhibition, which we will host in Zgorzelec thanks to the kindness of plant enthusiasts from an association in Görlitz!

As every year, there will also be a specially prepared postage-stamp exhibition organised by Zgorzelec philatelists.

It is also worth visiting our gallery, where from Saturday you will be able to see an exhibition of artworks by local artists from Zgorzelec and the surrounding area.

We invite you!
