During the festival, the competitions for “Balkan Cauldron” and “Good Pita” were decided. The competition featured 21 pitas with a wide variety of fillings: pumpkin, plum, apples, nuts, cheese, potatoes and berries, as well as four Balkan cauldrons, meaning spicy Balkan goulash and pepper soup. In the competition for good pita, the tastiest pastry was prepared by Wioletta Puzio from the Rural Housewives’ Circle in Kierżno; second place went to Halina Waniak, president of the Association of Re-emigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends, and third place to Maria Piątka from the Rural Housewives’ Circle in Wykroty. In the Balkan cauldron category, Robert Kruk from Golnice won, Maria Piątka took second place, and Andrzej Miżdal third. The winners received commemorative diplomas, trophies and household appliances.
Kierżno and Golnice Win the Competitions of the 15th South Slavic Culture Festival
The fifteenth edition of the festival was full of many flavors. Wioletta Puzio and Robert Kruk prepared the best Balkan delicacies.
