The first exhibition, presented in two BOK-MCC galleries, featured works by participants of the Academy of Art, led by Stanisława Wojda-Pytlińska, the ceramics and sculpture studio instructed by Edyta Orlińska, Mateusz Grobelny’s original ceramics and sculpture studio Mateusz Grobelny, the glass and stained-glass studio led by Magdalena Konieczna, and the textile art studio led by Teresa Olszewska-Bancewicz.

The deputy mayor, Kornel Filipowicz, who attended the ceremony, admired the talent of the Bolesławiec residents taking part in the classes. The children and young people studying in Wojda-Pytlińska’s studio presented exceptionally colourful works rich in subject matter. The studio is celebrating a great triumph this month. The talent and skills of eight participants in the Academy of Art’s art studio were recognised in three international competitions and a nationwide competition. Stanisława Wojda-Pytlińska’s students won awards at the 45th International Art Competition in Japan, the International Art Competition “This Is My Mexico,” organised by the Embassies of Mexico, and at the International Children’s Fine Art Exhibition Lidice 2015, one of the largest and oldest fine-art exhibitions in Europe and the world for children aged 4–16, organised by the Lidice Memorial in the Czech Republic

The young people from Magdalena Konieczna’s studio prepared a variety of stained-glass works. Edyta Orlińska’s and Mateusz Grobelny’s two ceramics studios presented reliefs, large artistic forms and smaller figurines demonstrating different techniques and approaches to clay as a material. Participants in Teresa Olszewska-Bancewicz’s studio presented colourful batiks with interesting subject matter. Their themes included landscapes, sunsets, still lifes, flowers and figurative motifs.

Exhibition of Katarzyna Sas’s studio

Twelve participants in the painting workshops of the University of the Third Age organised an exhibition of their paintings and drawings. Their works were presented by: Teresa Jaśkowska, Zofia Kapczacka, Jolanta Koźmin, Halina Kubów, Grażyna Łach, Bogumiła Łuczkowska, Ewa Maliara, Jadwiga Maryniak, Wioleta Nowakowska-Pogwizd, Danuta Satoła, Janina Stadnik and Liliana Wasiel.

The women create landscapes, numerous floral still lifes, portraits and variations on the Madonna and Child. There were also themes inspired by the works of famous artists such as Salvador Dali.

The head of the Bolesławiec University of the Third Age, Wiesława Olczyk, congratulated the participants on their passion and talent and thanked Katarzyna Sas for the excellent exhibition.

The host of the opening receptions, BOK-MCC director Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, offered many warm words of appreciation to the instructors working at BOK-MCC and also paid tribute to the talented class participants.

The inspiration for the studios at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre was the young Bolesławiec residents’ curiosity about the world and the creative potential of adult residents. BOK-MCC studios are special places where workshop participants discover their passions, learn and have fun. Children, young people and adults express here their need to explore and consciously transform reality and their own selves.
