The incident occurred on Friday (June 19) on the A4 motorway, near Szczytnica. The driver, travelling in an Opel Movano from the direction of Wrocław, was towing a trailer carrying a horse. Unfortunately, during the journey the animal became agitated and caused the trailer to sway violently with sudden movements.
The driver probably wanted to exit the motorway to calm the animal down. Unfortunately, he did not make it in time. The horse’s nervous behaviour caused the car to spin around, while the trailer overturned and fell into a ditch. The horse fell out through the torn roof of the trailer.
It is not known whether the animal will survive. It may have to be put down. A veterinarian was called to the scene. No one else was injured in the incident.
Update: 2015-06-19, 16:30
Unfortunately, the horse’s injuries proved so serious that the animal was euthanized.
