II Liceum Ogólnokształcące is hosting a group of several dozen middle school students from the city of Rivne, Ukraine (200 km from the Polish border). The city is home to two institutions of higher education, two theaters, and a historical and regional museum. The students from Ukraine were brought to Bolesławiec by II LO graduate Ewa Mańkowska. The school principal welcomed the guests.
“I warmly welcome you to our high school,” said Mirosław Sakowski. “I am glad that you have come to visit us. We are an open, friendly school, highly regarded by the local community, and I hope you will feel at home here with us.”
The high school students Marcelina Chuchro and Kornelia Miler invited their Ukrainian peers to sing and dance together. The young people handled the integration activities quite well. The middle school students also watched films about the high school and toured the school.
During their stay in Bolesławiec, they will take part in many integration activities. They will tour Bolesławiec, bathe in the Bolesławiec thermal baths, take a cruise on the waters of Krępnica, and go on trips to Görlitz and Zgorzelec. They will visit ceramic factories and take part in sports competitions.
“The aim of our visit to Bolesławiec is to look for common perspectives and characteristics,” said Ewa Mańkowska. “We will look for what brings us closer together and have a good time.”
The visit is coordinated by Anna Lisiak, assisted by teachers Jacek Maj and Beata Solpa-Tertel.
