The pierogi festival in Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka was, as every year, hugely popular. Housewives from Kraśnik Dolny (first place), Bożejowice-Rakowice (second place), Dobra (third place), Żeliszów, Tomaszów and Bolesławice (joint fourth place), Suszki (fifth place), Wykroty (sixth place) and Kruszyn (seventh place) took part in the competition for the best ruskie pierogi.

While welcoming everyone to the festival, the Bolesławiec commune head joked that if a team of housewives from the army quarters in Trzebień had entered the competition, they could have served everyone the best ruskie pierogi. “The announcement of the competition results is only the beginning of the fun,” said Andrzej Dutkowski. “I wish everyone a great time until the end.”

The commune head invited county head Dariusz Kwaśniewski onto the stage to present the awards; he had funded the second prize in the competition. The county head was accompanied by deputy county head Marian Haniszewski, Commune Council chairman Bogusław Uziej, and the competition jury: Liliana Liszcz (headmistress of the primary school in Dąbrowa) and Ryszard Miziniek.

Children from the primary school in Dąbrowa performed on stage, as did Elisa and Denise Laudami, Zumba instructors (free Zumba classes are organized by GOKiS). The Echo band from Chocianowiec performed, featuring 12 vocalists, double bass, violin, clarinet, mandolin and accordions. There were flamenco shows, a performance by Leśne Nastroje from Dobra and a performance by ZPiT Ziemi Bolesławieckiej. The festival ended with a dance party.

The pierogi festival is one of the many excellent and delicious events organized by Bolesławiec Commune for its residents.
