A patrol from the Prevention Division in the Ustronie housing estate in Lubin noticed a BMW parked on a lawn, damaged after a crash, with a damaged road sign underneath it. Two young men were standing by the vehicle. One of them turned out to be the vehicle’s owner. He told the police officers that neither he nor his friend had caused the damage.
What is more, it emerged that both men had been attacked shortly beforehand. The young assailant approached the parked BMW, in which the victim was sitting with a friend, and asked to be allowed to take it for a drive. The man clearly smelled of alcohol. The driver, a 20-year-old resident of Lubin, refused. The questioner reacted very brutally: he began strangling the 20-year-old, wrested the keys from him and ordered the passenger out of the vehicle, then drove away in the car.
He did not drive for long. In the same housing estate, he hit a road sign and abandoned the car.
The assailant was arrested. He is a 22-year-old resident of Lubin. He faces up to 10 years in prison. Police supervision has already been imposed on him.
