The eighth session of the Bolesławiec City Council was held on May 27 in the Forum cinema auditorium. During the ceremonial meeting, experienced local government officials spoke: Bolesławiec President Piotr Roman, former president of our city Józef Król, and former chairwoman of the Bolesławiec City Council Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk.

Piotr Roman:

Today we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the revival of Poland’s local government. Exactly 25 years ago, Poland held its first free elections after World War II.

Of all the reforms that have changed the face of Poland over the past 25 years, local-government reform is considered the best, most important and most successful.

Today, we want to honor those who devoted a part of their lives and energy to local-government Bolesławiec and democratic Poland.

Józef Król spoke about how much had been accomplished in our city during those 25 years and how many things had succeeded. “President Piotr Roman, this is your greatest achievement,” J. Król emphasized. “Together with your colleagues, over more than 12 years of managing the city and 25 years of work for local government, you have made a major contribution,” he stated. He added that he also thanked former president Józef Burniak.
