The tournament in Brzeg Dolny took place in the beautiful Andrzej Grubba Sports Hall. More than one hundred young table tennis players from across Lower Silesia competed at the tables. The boys’ tournament featured 48 players.

The competition was played using a system similar to that used in qualifying tournaments. To reach the final eight, players had to pass through two stages of qualification: first, compete in the so-called qualifying tournament and then—if they failed to qualify directly for the Main Tournament—in the tournament for second place.

This system means that many players have to play several difficult matches. Adam Goleński was among them.Adam Goleński. As a result of the seeding, the trainee of coach Łukasz Jaźwiec entered the qualifying tournament in the second round. His opponent was Jakub Mazurczak of KS Polkowice. Adaś defeated him 3–0, just as he did Dariusz Sobczak of GLKS Orlęta Krosnowice in the third round. In the fourth round (the quarterfinal), the TOP representative defeated Adam Ucherka of UKS GOKiS Kąty Wrocławskie 3–0, before losing in the semifinal to Dominik Kot of MKS Rokita Brzeg Dolny.

Reaching this stage earned Adam the right to compete in the so-called tournament for second place. There, the Bolesławiec player was the most successful of those who had lost in the first competition. He first defeated Paweł Sielski of UKS GOKiS Kąty Wrocławskie 3–0, then beat Adam Ucherka again in the semifinal, this time 3–2, and won the final 3–2 against Oskar Jadach of LZS SKS Raszówka.

Adam Goleński was flawless once again in the Final Tournament. In the match for places 5–8, he defeated Dominik Kot 3–1; in the match for places 3–4, he beat Adam Ucherka 3–1 again; and in the match for first place, he won 3–1 against Jakub Matkowski (UKS GOKiS Kąty Wrocławskie). This prestigious victory gave Adam the championship title and qualification for the Individual Polish Junior Championships.

It is worth emphasizing that Adam Goleński is, so far, the first junior from TOP Bolesławiec to win the Lower Silesian championship title. Congratulations for Sunday’s performance go not only to the player but also to his coach, who is still an active TOP table tennis player, Łukasz Jaźwiec.
