The incident took place on Sunday, May 3, after 2:00 a.m. Police officers from the prevention department of the Lubin District Police Headquarters detained two 19-year-olds and one 18-year-old. All three are residents of Polkowice.
While patrolling the Centrum housing estate, the officers noticed the hazard lights turned on in a delivery van. They decided to check it out. At that point, a man ran out from behind the vehicle, got into a passenger car and drove away. The officers set off in pursuit.
After stopping the fleeing man, it turned out that two other men were also in the car. The trio were detained and taken to police custody.
Police established that the residents of Polkowice had come to Lubin in a passenger car. Two of them remained in the car to observe the area. Meanwhile, the third tried to break into the delivery van. When he was unable to overcome the locks, he smashed one of its windows. The perpetrators did not manage to steal anything from inside because they were caught in the act.
The residents of Polkowice now face up to 10 years in prison.
