– Mr Nowak wanted to receive PLN 45,000. After analyzing the costs, the director of BOK-MCC replied that she could subsidize the event with PLN 15,000. She asked him to respond to her proposal, but received no answer – says Agnieszka Gergont, the city’s press spokesperson.
– In fact, I was the one who first sent a letter to Mr Nowak at the beginning of the year, asking whether he would organize Gliniada this year, because the event mattered to us. We met, after which Mr Nowak submitted an offer to me for PLN 45,000. I proposed PLN 15,000, and then there was silence. I received no reply, even though I sent another letter asking about the Glinoludów’s participation in the Ceramics Festival. The truth is also that, for example, several years ago, on the mayor’s instructions, we paid Gliniada PLN 15,000 and financed the showers – says Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, director of BOK-MCC.
We called one of the Glinoludów and asked him to comment on Nowak’s statement. It was a very heated conversation in which vulgar language was used. Among other things, we heard a contemptuous remark about the PLN 15,000 and that Gliniada did not want that kind of money. In the end, the Glinolud withdrew from the conversation and did not want to authorize his statement.
Last year, Gliniada received substantial funding from the Marshal’s Office; this was before the local elections. In our opinion, the biggest obstacle to Gliniada’s development in Bolesławiec is its head, Bogusław Nowak. In our view, he has alienated many people and is unable to reach an agreement with the city authorities.
