One of the attractions was the students’ participation in the 2nd Humanities Science Camp in Szklarska Poręba. Fifteen students, accompanied by the school principal Dariusz Kunaszko, went to the camp, which lasted from April 8 to 12.

The essence of the trip was learning through experience, which the students quickly absorbed during excursions and workshops. They broadened their knowledge of the history of the region and the Polish language. The numerous excursions, which enhanced the students’ ability to explore the region, were an undeniable advantage of the trip. Under the care of a mountain guide, the young people gained their first tourism experiences and were instructed in mountain safety. The five-day stay passed very quickly, but despite this, the students enjoyed many attractions.

Among the most important attractions was a coach trip to Cieplice, during which they toured the town and the Museum of Nature located there, which also featured exhibits related to history. Some people were surprised that the history of our region is so colourful and fascinating. At the same time, the students enjoyed the attractions of the Cieplice Baths, where they could regenerate their physical and mental strength.

At the regional event “Walloons’ Baptism,” the students learned to distinguish semi-precious stones, were introduced to the history of the Walloons, and received the titles of young Walloon apprentices and witches. All this took place in an atmospheric and beautiful setting and was confirmed by appropriate certificates for each student.
At the “Evening of Karkonosze Legends,” the students listened with fascination to compelling stories about historical and legendary figures associated with the part of the Sudetes where we were staying. The evening was led by Dr Beata Rynkiewicz and Dariusz Kunaszko, who introduced the students to the atmosphere of bygone eras in a distinctive way.

They visited tourist attractions in Szklarska Poręba, including the Kamieńczyk and Szklarka waterfalls, the Krucze Skały rocks, the Krzywe Baszty rock formations and Chybotek. They learned the histories and legends connected with these places. A visit to the Karkonosze Centre for Ecological Education will also remain in their memories for a long time, as the students had the opportunity to learn about many areas of knowledge concerning the region’s fauna, flora and history.

One of the most important attractions during their stay in calendar spring was certainly… snow, which was plentiful. The young people made the most of its charms by playing winter football and building snow sculptures.

The students of the School and Preschool Complex in Kruszyn also had the opportunity to develop their communication skills, as they met a group of peers from the Primary School in Kamienna Góra who, like them, were spending their holiday in Szklarska Poręba. New friendships were formed, and the young people’s organisational abilities could also be observed, as joint cultural events such as karaoke, discos, table tennis tournaments and a campfire with sausage roasting showed that the students of the School and Preschool Complex in Kruszyn are characterised by high standards of personal culture. The stay in Szklarska Poręba provided us with many unforgettable experiences, and the moments spent together will remain in our memories for a long time.
