The committee consisting of Barbara Macuga and Lesław Kasprzycki selected the 30 best works from the 211 entries submitted for the competition for grades 1–3. The competition aimed to remind participants of the richness of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales on the 210th anniversary of the writer’s birth, encourage reading habits, and develop children’s imagination and artistic abilities.

The children presented works that were excellently composed and rich in color and meaning. The young artists most often painted The Ugly Duckling, The Little Match Girl and Thumbelina, but there was also a beautiful Snow Queen and other characters from Andersen’s fairy tales. The competition winners’ works are being presented at a post-competition exhibition in the “Format” Gallery and on the library’s websites.

The editorial team of the Istotne.pl portal and newspaper congratulates the winners and prize recipients.
