At the Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna – Centrum Wiedzy, projects are being carried out that few people know about because of their limited promotion. As it turns out, the information does not even reach regular library patrons.
After seeing the designated paid zone in the library, a reader wrote to us: "Has someone at the municipal library lost their mind? Will it be 5 PLN to borrow a book tomorrow?"
Only use of the Strefa Odkrywania, Wyobraźni i Aktywności (SOWA) is subject to a fee. This is a program carried out by the municipal library together with Centrum Nauki Kopernik (CNK). In Poland, CNK has opened fifty such zones, including one in Bolesławiec. The program aims to increase access to science and technology education for a wide range of people, which should help build a society based on knowledge and innovation.
In Bolesławiec, building a society based on knowledge and innovation comes at a cost. A regular ticket costs 15 PLN. The Karta Dużej Rodziny and Karta Mieszkańca are accepted.
The fees came into effect in January 2026. Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna – Centrum Wiedzy provides information about the fees on its website. Reportedly, introducing charges is intended to organize the rules for using the zone, where visitors can assemble a model of a human, build an architectural arch without mortar, test their dexterity, test their memory and see what it feels like to lie on nails.
