The participants of the flamenco and oriental dance workshops took the audience on an exotic two-hour journey “From Spain to the Orient”. The performance also featured the Tres ensemble and Elwira Janitzki, a specialist in belly dance, Persian dance and Roma dance, from Berlin.

Beautiful, colorful costumes, captivating music and graceful dancers presented a program consisting of two parts. The first featured dancers from the “Carmen” flamenco dance workshop, whose instructor is Magdalena Zientara. They performed brilliantly in choreographies set to, among others, “Alegrias”, “Rumba flamenco” and “Sevillanas”. The performance by the youngest workshop participants, girls aged 4 to 12, who performed the tango “Rosa Maria”, aroused great emotion. This part of the program was enhanced by musicians from the Tres ensemble, who performed flamenco pieces on acoustic guitars. In addition to the regular lineup of musicians well known to Bolesławiec residents—Sławomir Zimniak on guitar, Andrzej Dziedzic on drums and Mirosław Kuc on guitar—the performance also featured Mirosław Kuc’s student from the BOK-MCC guitar workshop, the young and talented guitarist Wojciech Andrzejewski.

The second, oriental part featured the “Arabeska” dance workshop led by Alicja Kowal, as well as the special guest, the well-known and popular dancer Elwira Janitzki, not only in Berlin. The first dance performed by the workshop was an oriental tango, created during a summer workshop at BOK-MCC with Elwira Janitzki. The intriguing choreography resulted from collaboration between Elwira and Alicja Kowal. The women delighted the audience by combining oriental dance with tango and performing an intriguing choreography to “The Pink Panther”. The event also included typical oriental dances, including the “dance with the wings of the goddess Isis”. The children’s group, dressed in colorful costumes, delighted viewers with Nubian and Indian dances, as well as the most spectacular one—a fan dance.

The presentations by the oriental dance workshop were enriched by performances from the special guest. Elwira Janitzki performed a dance with two veils, a sagat dance and, together with the cultural centre’s instructors, a Gypsy dance.

The event hosts encouraged the audience to learn oriental dance and flamenco during free classes at BOK-MCC. They also invited the public to the next edition of the festival in a year.
