Anyone who would like to relax outdoors, listen to artistic performances, take part in games and sports activities, or simply visit the stalls prepared by the festival’s partners—the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec, the Municipal Senior Citizens’ Club, and the Municipal Public Library—will be welcome at Popiełuszko Square.
The May Picnic will begin on Saturday, May 2, at 3 p.m.. It will continue into the evening. The program will include, among other things, dance and vocal performances by children from Public Preschool No. 8, a performance by the Kwiatowianki ensemble from Żarska Wieś, a parade by Frant Theatre entitled “Polish Feast,” and, to end the evening, a concert by the disco polo group Tia Maria.
As every year, the Culinary Theatre from Łódź will invite everyone to enjoy a delicious free meal, this time preparing a large pot of pea soup. And if anyone does not like military-style pea soup, they will be able to sample grilled dishes from the barbecue that the Bazylia restaurant will set up together with its food corner. Anyone interested will also be able to roast over the bonfire a sausage brought from home.
A tradition of the May Picnics is also a competition for the most interesting picnic table setting. This year will be no different. So we encourage you to be creative and join in the fun.
