In the competition held on April 12, Mariusz Plesiński, a soldier and representative of UKS “Tukan” Iwiny (we write about this club very often in our pages), completed the 16.8-kilometer course, featuring 29 control points, in 97 minutes, finishing as much as 2 minutes ahead of the next competitor.

– I must admit that my rivals set the bar very high. The battle continued until the final meters. The organizer prepared a very physically demanding course, and it was necessary to pay attention to distributing one’s strength evenly over the entire distance. The final section of the course included many stretches along roads, which gave me an advantage over my rivals. Knowing that I had a speed advantage, I attacked on a long, one-and-a-half-kilometer stretch, more than three kilometers before the finish. And it worked – Warrant Officer Plesiński said.

It was Warrant Officer Plesiński’s first start in this running discipline. It is worth adding that another representative of Tukan, Dariusz Pachnik, started twice in this category and at this distance and won gold both times.
