From June 1999 to January 2002, unemployment continued to rise. During this period, the number of registered unemployed people increased from 7,188 to 9,789. Currently, 5,855 unemployed people are registered at the Employment Office.
This year, the District Employment Office (PUP) is implementing five programmes co-financed by the European Social Fund, worth more than one million złotys. The PUP is planning two more programmes financed entirely from European Union funds. In addition, the PUP has applied for additional funding from the Labour Fund. In total, Bolesławiec County plans to allocate nearly 6 million złotys this year to the activation of unemployed people.
