A young couple from Legnica will remember their wedding night particularly badly. The incident took place on Saturday at approximately 11:50 p.m. Two officers from the Legnica police’s Prevention Department intervened at an apartment in the city centre. After completing their duties, the officers were returning to their patrol car. A young man was standing on the pavement and smoking a cigarette. Suddenly—out of nowhere—he began shouting at and insulting the officers.
When the officers wanted to check his identity, the man became aggressive. He began grabbing the officers by their uniforms, pushing them and kicking them. Moreover, the officers were soon attacked by two women who demanded that the detained man be released. One of the women kicked the officers, while the other struck one of them in the face.
All three were taken to the police station. It turned out that they were newlyweds—they had got married that very day—and the mother of one of them. All those detained were drunk. He had 2.3 per mille of alcohol in his system, while the women had more than 1.5 per mille each. They were placed in police custody.
After sobering up, the detainees voluntarily accepted the punishment proposed by the prosecutor.
