Bolesławiec’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol No. 23 received information from the Bolesławiec Forest District that unearthed aerial bombs had been found in the forest in Dobra. They were probably dug up by some “treasure hunter.” He pulled some of them out of the ground himself.

As Warrant Officer Radosław Mazur, commander of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol No. 23, told us, there are approximately 17 German aerial bombs in the ravine (each weighing 50 kg).

Our sappers are checking whether the unexploded ordnance will have to be detonated on site or whether it can be transported and detonated at a training ground.

Update 2015-04-10 15:15

Eleven bombs had been dug up. The rest were still in the ground. It is already known that they will be detonated at a training ground. In addition to the bombs, the sappers dug up two German artillery shells (75 mm caliber). Those taking part in the operation were: Warrant Officer Radosław Mazur, Senior Corporal Andrzej Walęga, Private Marek Słowiński and Senior Private Mateusz Zioła.

Warning!

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol warns: if we find an object that looks like unexploded ordnance or a misfired shell, under no circumstances should we touch it; let us remember where it is and report it to the police or a forester.
