According to police findings, the taxi driver arrived in Legnica from Wrocław with two passengers. The taxi driver lost his way to the hotel, so he decided to ask a passer-by for help. The passer-by offered to get into the car and show the driver the way. While they were driving, the passer-by began opening the compartments in the car and looking through their contents. The driver stopped and tried to make the intruder leave the vehicle.
When the man refused to leave the car, the driver got out and approached the passenger door to force him out. The man then moved into the driver’s seat and drove away, completely ignoring the fact that the passengers were still in the back seat. After driving several hundred metres, the perpetrator stopped the car and tried to escape. However, he was apprehended by the taxi’s owner, who notified police officers of the incident.
The 26-year-old was taken straight to custody. The man was intoxicated, with almost 0.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. What is more, the test showed that he was also under the influence of drugs.
He now faces up to five years in prison.
