The meetings will conclude the first stage of activities aimed at improving the functionality and appearance of these important areas of the town. The development concepts for the areas mentioned, prepared partly on the basis of residents’ opinions and proposals gathered during last year’s public consultations, will soon be handed over to designers, who will use them to prepare the design documentation.
The completed designs will be attached to applications for EU funding, because, as in previous years, the town will seek European Union funds to finance the planned changes.
Before that happens, the mayor invites residents to information meetings, where everyone interested will be able to review the concepts commissioned by the municipal office, discuss them and submit any comments.
All meetings are open to the public and will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Miejski Dom Kultury:
- 14 April – meeting on the development concept for the Czerwona Woda reservoir and surrounding areas
- The development and restoration of the currently degraded area of the former municipal bathing site is intended to restore its recreational and leisure function. The concept includes, among other things, recreating and developing a municipal bathing area with a beach, a treetop rope park and a playground, as well as constructing fishing spots and walking and cycling paths
- 15 April – meeting on the development of the areas surrounding the Miejski Dom Kultury and the revitalisation of Błachańca Park
- The planned changes continue efforts to restore the representative and recreational character of Zgorzelec’s park complex. Emphasising the site’s unique beauty and historic character will increase the town’s tourist appeal while providing residents with a place for rest and recreation
- 21 April – meeting on the third stage of the town-centre revitalisation, with particular emphasis on the redevelopment of the immediate centre, including Bohaterów Getta Street
- In line with the plans, the changes designed for this part of the town are intended to create a welcoming, attractive public space – a town centre with an appealing retail and dining offering.
