During the holiday period, traffic was heavy on the roads of the Jelenia Góra region. There were 15 road collisions throughout the region, most commonly caused by failing to keep a safe distance and rear-ending another vehicle, as well as by failing to adjust speed to the road conditions.

On April 3 this year, at approximately 2:55 p.m., an accident occurred on Solankowa Street in Jelenia Góra. Preliminary findings indicate that the 23-year-old driver of a Fiat Ducato, who was driving across a wet meadow, became stuck in the soft ground. A passer-by, a 36-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra, decided to help push the vehicle out and consequently ended up under one of the vehicle’s wheels. The man was taken to hospital.

On April 5, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers from the Traffic Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra stopped the driver of a Fiat Ducato for inspection on Wrocławska Street. During the inspection, it turned out that the 31-year-old driver was subject to a driving ban. He may now face up to three years in prison.

Moreover, during this time, officers caught 9 drunk drivers: three of them had more than 2 per mille of alcohol in their systems, and one had as much as 3 per mille.

In addition, officers issued 211 tickets for various traffic violations, mainly for exceeding the speed limit, and detained 6 wanted persons.

During the holiday period, officers intervened nearly 870 times.
