On Wednesday (1 April), BKS played their Polish Regional Cup quarter-final match in Wojcieszyce. Their opponents were Woskar Szklarska Poręba. In the first half, BKS coach Andrzej Kisiel fielded an experimental lineup, also giving reserve players a chance to play. The first 45 minutes were poor on our part, and our players’ numerous mistakes allowed Woskar Szklarska Poręba to attack more boldly.
Despite this, we had chances to score. In the 24th minute, Pawlusiński found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but the player from Szklarska Poręba came out on top. In the 31st minute, Pawlusiński had another chance, but again it did not result in a goal. Two minutes later, Długosz opted for a powerful shot, but the ball went just over the crossbar. When it seemed that we would go into the break level at 0:0, the hosts launched a quick counterattack and took a surprising 1:0 lead.
In the second half, coach Kisiel brought on players who had previously been in the starting lineup, and the course of the game looked different. Unfortunately, the weather began to play the main role. Strong wind and heavy snowfall made it impossible not only to watch Wednesday’s match but also to play it. In the 71st minute, the conditions were so terrible that the referee ordered both teams to leave the field and go to the dressing rooms.
After several minutes, the weather calmed down and, following the clearing of the pitch, both teams returned to play. In the very first attack after the restart, BKS equalised. Kosior delivered a good cross from the corner, and in the penalty area Bochnia rose highest and put the ball into the net. The final quarter of an hour consisted of continuous attacks by our team, but the side from Szklarska Poręba, defending deep in their own half, held firm. The score did not change before the end of the match, leaving the referee with no choice but to order a penalty shootout. Woskar Szklarska Poręba’s players took their penalties better, and they advanced to the semi-finals of the Polish Regional Cup.
Wednesday’s match was not a good performance on our part. Although the playing conditions were mediocre, that does not excuse the team’s poor showing. Our players’ duty was to win, and since that did not happen, we must draw the appropriate conclusions, as an extremely difficult clash against the local KS awaits us in Polkowice on Saturday.
Woskar Szklarska Poręba - BKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec 1:1 (penalties 6:5).
