The ceremony at Forum was hosted by Maria Szpak, president of the Association of Persons with Disabilities. After the guests were welcomed, a multimedia presentation was held showcasing the broad range of activities undertaken by persons with disabilities in our city.

The first to present commemorative wishes to the host was the Mayor of Bolesławiec, Piotr Roman. Wishes were also conveyed by, among others, representatives of the county and municipal authorities, non-governmental organisations and associations.

An important part of the event was the presentation of “Friend of the Senior” distinctions, which were awarded to: the Mayor of Bolesławiec, Piotr Roman; Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, director of BOK-MC; and distinguished SON activists: Michał Wojdyła, Management Board Member; Helena Kowal (Theatre Lovers’ Club); Maria Długoszewska (Audit Committee); Rozalia Pawelska (treasurer); and Teresa Kubuś (accountant).

The following also received acknowledgements: Matylda Smusz, a member of the SON branch in Nowogrodziec; Danuta Marecka, head of the District Family Assistance Centre in Bolesławiec; Jan Majewski, a member of the Association; Krystyna Juszkiewicz, owner of a travel agency in Bolesławiec; and Krzysztof Kawałko, head of the Day Care Centre in Nowogrodziec. Ten people were recognised for their many years of membership in the Association.

The official part was enlivened by performances by residents of the II Community Self-Help Home and the Milikowianki ensemble.
