Children from classes III a and III b at Primary School No. 2, under the direction of their homeroom teachers: Monika Grzyb, Małgorzata Oleś and Anna Kot, embarked on their acting adventure. They prepared the play “Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining...”, which they performed twice on the stage of CIK “Orzeł”.

In the morning, nearly 200 spectators watched the performance: five- and six-year-olds from municipal preschools Nos. 4, 5 and 6, four-year-olds from Preschool No. 3, and the preparatory classes from School No. 2. The special guests at the performance were: Deputy Head of the Social Department Stanisław Wyganowski, Chair of the Education, Culture and Sport Committee Łukasz Jaźwiec, Headmistress of MZS No. 3 Irena Sikora-Kołodyńska and Head of CIK Orzeł Jacek Dudyński.

In the afternoon, a second performance was held for the young actors’ families, acquaintances and friends, as well as retirees from the Day Care Centre and the University of the Third Age. The guest was the deputy headmistress of School No. 2, Dorota Basiak.

The children presented a story that took place in the world of fairy tales. The evil characters became offended with everyone because nobody liked them and left the fairy tales. What happened then? Something terrible. The fairy tales turned out to be boring; nothing much happened in them. Little Red Riding Hood visited Grandmother, the forester had nothing to tell his grandchildren, the Shoemaker did not get the princess as his wife, the Prince left the rich Cinderella, the dwarfs were afraid of the capricious Snow White, and Hansel and Gretel found only an ordinary forest. That is how life is: everything has its place. Every cloud has a silver lining.

The choir introduced the stories, while the children danced, sang, acted and played theatre so energetically that the guests, young and old, followed the characters’ adventures attentively, with open mouths or loud laughter. The actors’ cheerful costumes, stage design, music and lighting added colour. The performance ended with huge applause from the audience.

Performances are organised regularly at the school; every child enjoys playing theatre. In addition, they learn about fables and fairy tales, because without fantasy and imagination the world would be grey. The children and teachers participate in the social campaign “All of Poland Reads to Kids”. The organisers sincerely thank everyone who helped make this event possible: the parents, the management of MCC - BOK for making the hall at CIK Orzeł available, Jacek Dudyński and the employees of the Cultural Integration Centre.
