Another annual scientific conference held to mark International Disabled Persons Day is the most important event taking place this week under the green roof of the Municipal Cultural Centre in Zgorzelec. The conference will be held on 20 and 21 March (Friday and Saturday), under the slogans “Life Without Pain” and “Healthy Children – a Healthy Europe”. The initiator and founder of the International Disabled Persons Day celebrations is Associate Professor Zbigniew Śliwiński, MD, PhD, Zbigniew Śliwiński, who is also chair of the conference’s organising committee.

Before scientists from almost all over the world take over our cultural centre, however, we invite everyone on Tuesday. That morning, a recitation competition for preschool children from Zgorzelec will be held. Admission is, of course, free, but the emotions… priceless. We especially invite the parents and grandparents of the young artists from 10 a.m.

We also warmly recommend our cinema this week. Through Wednesday inclusive, we are screening the film “Lithuanian Hustle”, directed by Emylis Venylis. The film tells the story of four friends—John, Ben, Tim and Michael—who, after their first robbery together, end up at the end of the world as a result of an unfortunate turn of events: in one of the countries of Eastern Europe, full of smugglers, corrupt police officers, cheap alcohol and fantastically beautiful women. If you enjoy films in the style of Guy Ritchie’s movies (“Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”, “Snatch”), we invite you all the more. We start at 6:31 p.m., with tickets priced at PLN 11.

We also strongly recommend that you save Saturday in your calendars. Yes, indeed! This coming Saturday will see another spring concert by the Zgorzelec Mandolin Orchestra. This time, it will feature three tenors—Tadeusz Szlenkier, Adam Sobierajski and Paweł Skałuba. Once again, it looks set to be a major artistic event. The concert will take place at the Sports and Recreation Centre at 1 Maratońska Street in Zgorzelec. It starts at 5:30 p.m.. Tickets are already on sale at MDK Zgorzelec and CSR Zgorzelec. They cost PLN 20.
