Last year, training sessions began as part of the nationwide BiegamBoLubię campaign. It turned out that there are quite a few amateur female and male runners in our town who have plenty of energy and enthusiasm for action. A plan was drawn up to organize a series of races under one name.
– The idea could only be put into practice after the Bolesławiec Running Club was established, which happened at the end of last year. The idea of such an event appealed to the Bolesławiec starost Dariusz Kwaśniewski, who, as usual, supports such initiatives and promised to help us. The first test was organizing a race called Tropem Wilczym. The feedback on the organization was positive, so we decided to launch the league – says BBL coach Dariusz Łomański.
The organizers intend to organize or co-organize eight races for amateurs in various parts of our powiat.
– For now, we want to see how such an event is received. Above all, we want to attract children and amateurs to running, giving them an opportunity to meet, talk and compete with one another. We want it to be primarily fun. For now, we anticipate competition in the categories of children in primary school grades I–III, IV–VI, and the open category. Of course, the race format may be changed and the children divided into three age categories. We are open to all ideas – adds the president of the Running Club, Łukasz Król.
In individual races, the organizers plan to award certificates in the open category. Children, meanwhile, will receive medals or small gifts. At the end of the year, there will be a formal conclusion of the league and awards for participants who achieved the highest places in at least five races.
– The competitions will take place in different parts of our town and powiat and in various formats. I think the event at Grodziec Castle will be an interesting race. The challenge will be that after each uphill section, several of the last competitors (the number will depend on the number of runners) will be eliminated, so that only the strongest remain for the final race – Dariusz Łomański adds.
The first league race will take place in the forest on the right-hand side of Jeleniogórska Street, heading toward Jelenia Góra (access from the direction of Bożejowice). Details of access and the running routes will be provided soon.
Distances:
- children, grades I–III – approx. 600 m
- children, grades IV–VI – approx. 1,250 m
- open category – approx. 5 km (2 laps).
All races will be held in women’s and men’s categories. Details are available on Istotne.pl, on the Facebook profiles of the BiegamBoLubię Bolesławiec campaign and the Bolesławiec Running Club.
