On Monday, the 5th Forum of European School Clubs was held at Kliczków Castle. The forum was held under the slogan "European Orienteering". More than 300 pupils from primary, lower-secondary and upper-secondary schools came to the castle. The forum’s special guest was MEP Jacek Protasiewicz.
The meeting in Kliczków began with a performance by pupils from the School Complex named after the European Union in Świętoszów and the School Complex named after John Paul II in Osiecznica. The aims of the European School Clubs (SKE) were then presented. Urszula Jasik and Barbara Berduła, methodical advisers at the District Centre for Education and Staff Training (PCEiKK), spoke about them. The authorities of Bolesławiec County thanked the coordinators of the European clubs from 25 schools throughout the county for their work to date.
PCEiKK, together with the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Osiecznica and the Association of Young Democrats, organised a tournament for SKE teams. The pupils competed in eight events. Their knowledge and physical fitness were tested. Three teams qualified for the final: the Primary School in Nowogrodziec, SP Parowa and SP Tomisław. Ultimately, the four-member team from the Primary School in Nowogrodziec won.
At the same time as the primary-school teams competed, pupils from lower-secondary and upper-secondary schools met with MP Jacek Protasiewicz. The pupils asked questions about the European Union and the functioning of the European Parliament. The event concluded with an integration gathering in the castle’s outer grounds, during which the MP presented prizes to the winners of the orienteering competition.
