The excitement was no less intense than in nationwide indoor competitions. Sunday’s Bolesławiec County Board Cup Junior Indoor Football Championship, held in the gymnasium of the I General Secondary School, was something of an off-season showcase of the condition of the sport in the county and proof that junior-level football has professional qualities.
The players’ passion and skills determined the quality of the game and the exciting final. This time, too, that spark—always needed in sport—was not lacking. The final brought together teams from Nowogrodziec and Gromadka. It was not only an admirable level of play, but also genuine sporting drama: the result was decided only by a penalty shootout. The players from Nowogrodziec proved better and won the title of Bolesławiec County champions. The players received the cup and prizes from Stanisław Chwojnicki, a full-time member of the County Board Stanisław Chwojnicki and County Board member Zbigniew Mitera.
The runners-up were the juniors from Gromadka, while the players from BKS Bolesławiec took third place. Eight teams took part in the tournament, from Nowogrodziec, Otok, Kraśnik, Gromadka, Ocice, Osiecznica, Brzeźnik and Bolesławiec.
The tournament’s best goalkeeper was Hubert Wala, while the top scorer was Michał Rosa. The event was organized by Bolesławiec County, with Powiatowe Centrum Edukacji i Kształcenia Kadr as co-organizer.
