The robbery took place on the night of 30–31 August 2012, when the victim, Przemysław K., was returning by bus from Germany to his place of residence.
When the coach stopped for a short break near the A4 motorway in Kraśnik Dolny (Bolesławiec gmina), the victim briefly got off and went to a petrol station to buy something to eat. On his way back, Piotr S. and Arkadiusz K. approached him and offered to sell him pills. Przemysław K. refused. Arkadiusz K. then headbutted the victim, while the other perpetrator grabbed him from behind with both arms. At that point, Arkadiusz K. searched Przemysław K.’s clothing and took €3,500 from him.
After the victim freed himself from Piotr S.’s grip, he ran after the man who had taken his money. He caught up with him and tried to take it back.
S. then approached a Volkswagen Passat parked by the motorway, from which two previously unidentified men got out. They ran up to the victim, knocked him to the ground, and began hitting him with a telescopic baton and kicking him all over his body. All four perpetrators then drove away toward Wrocław.
It was also established that on 3 October 2013, at a petrol station in Osła (Gromadka gmina), suspect Piotr S. defrauded Michał S.
The victim was returning home from abroad by bus at night. He briefly got off in the petrol station car park. Piotr S. approached him and asked whether he had seen a Russian man who had dropped money from his pocket. Michał S. denied this. The perpetrator suggested that they go behind the petrol station building. There, an accomplice of the suspect approached them, pretending to be a Russian citizen.
The fake Russian claimed that he had lost money and that one of them must have it. He demanded that they show him their wallets. When the victim handed his cash to the suspect, the latter, taking advantage of Michał S.’s inattention, exchanged his euros for Ukrainian hryvnias and then handed him the substituted banknotes. Suspecting nothing, the victim boarded the bus and continued his journey. Only during the next stop did he notice that he had fallen victim to fraudsters and lost €1,200 (PLN 5,016).
Piotr S. used the same method to defraud Stanisław M. on 10 October 2013 at a petrol station in Osła, targeting another man returning by coach from Germany to Poland. As a result of Piotr S.’s criminal actions and those of his accomplice, the victim lost €3,750 (PLN 15,375).
When questioned as a suspect, Piotr S. denied the charges and refused to provide an explanation. The man had previously been convicted by a court of crimes against life and health.
The investigation failed to establish the identities of the other two accomplices in the robbery of Przemysław K., while Arkadiusz K. has already been convicted of this offense in a final judgment by the District Court in Bolesławiec.
The man who worked with Piotr S. in the frauds committed in Osła was also not identified.
S. faces up to 12 years in prison.
