The incident occurred on 4 March this year, at approximately 4:50 p.m., in one of Jelenia Góra’s discount grocery stores. The man stole alcohol worth PLN 28, and when a security guard tried to take it back, the 27-year-old pushed him. The guard fell as a result, while the thief fled with the loot.
The 27-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra was detained at his home later that same day. It turned out, however, that he had already drunk the stolen alcohol. He had a blood alcohol level of 2 per mille and was taken into police custody.
The detainee admitted to the theft. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
