This is how Bolesławiec County Head Dariusz Kwaśniewski described his first visit to Bosnia:
I met, among others, with the mayors (heads) of four municipalities in areas where Polish people lived. These municipalities are Prnjavor, Derventa, Laktasi and Gradiska. I would once again like to thank Bishop of the Diocese of Banja Luka Franjo Komarica for organising and participating in these working discussions.
We spent several hours agreeing with representatives of Polish associations in Bosnia—the “Bolesławiec from Prnjavor” Association, “Mak” from Celinovac and the Association of Poles of the City of Banja Luka—on a schedule of joint activities for the next two years. I visited Polish cemeteries in Gumiera, Devetina, Rakovac, Celinovac and Kunov. The meeting with the Polish residents of Celinovac made a great impression on me: for decades, they have selflessly nurtured their Polish identity through prayer, singing and customs. Helping them is becoming a major commitment for me. In summary, there is a great deal of work ahead of us—both commemorating the past and working for a shared future.
