Traditionally, the Polish Firefighters’ Championships were held as part of the Bieg Piastów, with firefighters from Zgorzelec among the participants (over the 25 km distance, Paweł Kusiak recorded a time of 2:29:27, Hubert Jarosz – 2:33:43, and Łukasz Mesjasz – 2:48:30). Eighty-eight competitors, including eight women, competed for podium places in the firefighters’ event. Two races were held, over distances of 25 and 50 km. In both races, Mariusz Dziadkowiec-Michoń, representing KM PSP in Jelenia Góra, proved unbeatable.
The second place in the 25 km race went to a representative of the Lower Silesian State Fire Service: Waldemar Poręba from Kamienna Góra. In the 50 km race, second place was won by Maciej Dawidziuk from the Jelenia Góra KM PSP. In the women’s 25 km race, all three podium places went to women from Lower Silesian State Fire Service commands: first place to Agnieszka Wiewiórka from KM PSP Wałbrzych, second to Ewa Łabuz from KW PSP in Wrocław, and third to Ilona Cytawa from KP PSP Wołów.
The winners of this year’s firefighters’ cross-country skiing competition at Polana Jakuszycka received trophies and awards from the chief commander of the State Fire Service. They were presented by the deputy Lower Silesian provincial State Fire Service commander in Wrocław, Senior Brigadier Andrzej Abulewicz, and the municipal State Fire Service commander in Jelenia Góra, Junior Brigadier Jerzy Sładczyk.
