In the event of a threat, the barrier will be installed on Wały Rzeczne Street near the railway viaduct. Previously, wooden beams and sandbags were used at this location for protection. The mobile barrier is considerably easier and more convenient to install. It consists of 20 aluminium elements. It can be assembled to a height of one and a half metres. This protection system is highly durable. In the event of a threat, it will be installed by firefighters and municipal guards.
On 2 March, the mobile flood barrier was installed on Wały Rzeczne Street for the first time as a trial. Municipal guards and firefighters, among others, also took part in the presentation and were trained in how to install it. The new device cost PLN 50,000. The barrier elements will be stored in the flood-protection warehouse.
Let us recall that a high wall was built along Wały Rzeczne Street several years ago as part of the flood-protection measures. The mobile flood barrier, installed directly on the roadway and pavement, is a key element of this system.
