BOK-MCC will co-organize the Ceramics Festival, and nothing will change from a technical standpoint. Formally, the main organizer will be the City Hall. This is not the first time in the history of the Bolesławiec festival that the City Hall has taken over the accounting and all decisions concerning the BŚC. Neither vendors, nor Bolesławiec residents, nor invited guests or tourists will notice this at all.
The mayor confirms that the change of the main organizer was forced by the situation at the cultural centre. “A few people at BOK-MCC were considering organizing a strike; such a proposal was made, and therefore I had to somehow safeguard the city’s most important promotional festival,” says Piotr Roman.
The mayor calls Bolec.info’s reports about the privatization of Forum Cinema a lie. “And once again, it’s a lie,” says Piotr Roman. “We are considering leasing the cinema. It would be privatization if we wanted to sell the cinema. This is a sensation on the scale of Kazimierz Marczewski. If BOK-MCC employees are demanding a PLN 500 raise and want to earn nearly PLN 4,000, the cinema will be absolutely unprofitable. We cannot allow that.”
“A strike is a last resort. Planning a strike for August was not at all the intention of our trade union organization,” says Bogusław Wojtas, chairman of the negotiating team. “We are in the first phase of negotiations. The next negotiating meeting is scheduled for 12 March. The pay demand is not a priority demand. We want to stop employees from being discriminated against because of their trade-union membership.”
