A great success for Polish cinema: for the first time in history, we can celebrate an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, awarded to Paweł Pawlikowski’s “Ida.” This film must be seen! Showing at Forum until Thursday, 26 February.

On Monday, 2 March, as part of the Film Discussion Club, you can see the undisputed winner of this year’s ceremony, “Birdman.” The film, directed by Alejandro G. Innaritu, received a total of four statuettes: for Best Picture, directing, screenplay and cinematography.
A week later, on 9 March, we invite you to see “Whiplash,” winner of three statuettes for editing, sound and J.K. Simons’s supporting performance.

Unfortunately, the Poles did not manage to win the Oscar for Best Documentary Short. Tomasz Śliwiński’s “Our Curse,” nominated for the award, and Aneta Kopacz’s “Joanna,” considered one of the favorites, had to acknowledge the superiority of the story about a support center for American war veterans, “Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1.” Nevertheless, two nominations in this category are a great success. Both documentaries are already showing at Forum today as part of the Film Discussion Club at 7:10 p.m.
